Marks the beginning of Lent.

10am: Solemn Mass with Ashing

7.30pm: Said Mass.

Ash Wednesday is a day of prayer and fasting.

Every Wednesday in lent.

9.15am Stations of the Cross.

10.00am Mass with devotional homily.

Every Friday in Lent

Lent Groups

The Lent Course this year is 'in house' on Wednesdays at 2pm in the Church Hall, following a course looking at the

CROSS called 'When I survey....Christ's cross and ours'.

All Welcome.

There are also talks at Holy Trinity , Ilkeston at 7pm each Tuesday in Lent.

This year: The Annunciation to the Lord is on Thursday, 25th March.

Mass of Healing and Reconciliation

We all are in need of healing and reconciliation and Lent is a key time to search for it. Lent III will contain elements of healing and reconciliation as experienced, for example, at Caister and Walsingham. If you wish to receive the ministry of laying on of hands or anointing you can!

Mass at 10.am.

Chrism Mass

This will take place in Holy Week on Maundy Wednesday, 31st March at St. James, Wednesbury at 11.30am. If you would like to join with the clergy as they renew their priestly and diaconal vows in front of the Bishop of Ebbsfleet and as we receive the newly consecrated oils of the sick, baptism and chrism, then please book a lift with them or follow in convoy!

Palm Sunday 28th March

8am Mass and blessing of palms

9.30am Assemble at St. Laurence School, procession to church with Donkey!, with the Passion According to St. Luke.

6pm 'The Christ of the Cross'.

 

 

 

Monday 29th

7.30pm Mass followed by address by

Fr. Ian Falconer our Holy Week Preacher, followed by Compline.

 

 

 

Tuesday 30th

7.30pm Mass followed by address to be followed by Compline.

 

 

 

Wednesday 31st

11.30am Chrism Mass at Wenesbury.

7.30pm Mass, followed by address followed by Compline.

 

 

 

Maundy Thursday 1st April.

7.30pm Solemn Mass of the last Supper, with washing of the feet (12 volunteers needed please).

Vigil to midnight at the Altar of Repose.

 

 

 

Good Friday 2nd April

10am - 11am Ecumenical Good Friday Service at Trinity Methodist Church followed by 11am Walk of Witness to the Market Place and at 11.15am- 11.45 Act of Witness in the Market Place.

1pm Stations of the Cross.

2pm Solemn Liturgy of the Passion and Death of Christ

Holy Saturday 3rd April

9am Church Cleaning and preparation for Easter.

 

8.30pm Easter Vigil and First Mass of Easter,blessing of the fire,  blessing of the Paschal Candle, and blessing of the waters of the font.

 

 

 

Easter Day 4th April

8am Mass

10am Solemn Mass with Procession

6pm Evensong and Benediction.

 

 

 

 

All communicants of the Church of England are required to receive Holy Communion on Easter Day. It is permitted to receive Holy Communion at the Vigil and at mass on Easter Day.

4-5pm  Holy Saturday

or by appointment with any of the clergy.
